LEARN:

Leaders with a Mentor Mindset know one of the biggest wastes of time is trying to please people. Therefore, they don’t lose time trying to please people. They understand a person’s pleasure is their own responsibility. Therefore, successful people invest their time by serving people.

DO:

Leaders refrain from acquiescing to people’s whimsical requests. They serve people by going beyond and performing these 5 key callings with those whom they engage.

They SERVE:

Spend the right amount of focused time being present and  getting to know what is most important to the person you are with at the time. The biggest psychological need people have is to feel understood. Spending time to understand another person is the greatest gift you can bestow upon them. When you take the time to learn about others, you thereby increase your ability and capacity to locate and connect them to the resources they need.

Expand their belief in their ability to  achieve what they want. Help them see, feel and believe they can accomplish what they want for themselves simply by asking them questions about accomplishments they are proud of and about their desired future and what their life will be like once they obtain that status. In the process of them communicating to you it will bring up the enthusiasm to empower them to go after it.

Stop wasting time trying to please people. It's not your job.

Stop wasting time trying to please people. It’s not your job.

Reframe their stumbling blocks into stepping stones. Anybody that attempts to go for what they want will experience setbacks and failures. It’s the person who sees the setback and undesired results as a catalyst for increasing their capacity to do what is needed  to achieve their goal. This is what enables  the same person to persevere and ultimately succeed. Help people see how they can make a new meaning of an event or circumstance they may believe is keeping them from their success.

Vision. Help the people you meet formulate a conscious compelling  vision of what is possible for  their future rather than allowing them to be swayed by an unconscious dismal repelling vision they may not even be aware is influencing them.

Empower others to live in their full potential by living in your full potential. Show others what is possible by believing in yourself. The drive for success and fulfillment is contagious.  It is said that we will be the same person in 5 years that we are today with the exception of the books we read and the people we meet. Strive to be that person that impacts people’s growth just by having met you. Challenge them to play a bigger game; to step into their compelling vision. Rather than see them as who they currently are, see them as their future self already having stepped into their impending greatness.
