Leaders with a Mentor Mindset understand to get to the destination they seek they must be willing to navigate through the STORM in which they may find themselves. They help those they lead be willing to navigate the STORM as well.
If you are reading this post you have most definitely experienced tough times of which you have had to overcome. Congratulations on making it through.
In the adversity is the way or solution we seek. But how do we adapt the attitude to persevere through the adversity?
While going through a trying time myself recently I’ve pondered this question. How do I get myself to keep on going; to stay focused and committed to the course I’ve chosen? It felt like I have lost a great deal of momentum in my business; as if things were slipping backwards. Other things in my life were adding to the overwhelm such as a blown engine in my car, a cracked front tooth that needs to be replaced, and the list continues.
I know we all have stuff that goes on in life. There are times when it seems like no big deal and others when we really feel it. So, when we are really feeling it, how do we move through it or beyond it?
For me, it felt like a storm of setbacks and disappointment in my mind. I know when we are in one, storms can be scary. The good news is storms don’t last forever. After a storm comes the calm.
How do we reverse the momentum of the storm and redirect it to carry us where we want to go? How do we turn the situation around? How do we weather the storm? The word that flashed for me was the word STORM itself.
It is said that a miracle is simply seeing something in a different way for the first time. How can we gain a new perspective? How do we shift our paradigm made up of thoughts, ideas, beliefs and feelings so we can right our course?
The first step is to realize the STORM is a Situation To Overcome Reversed Momentum. It is there to serve us.
Somehow, through our thoughts and choices either conscious or unconscious, along with situation and circumstances we may find ourselves in a STORM. It feels like nothing is going our way. We fear we are sliding backwards, maybe even losing it all. In the storm we lose site of our destination.
The STORM is the reminder itself to recall our vision of where we are heading. Become fixated on where we want to get to and the clarity will be sure to provide the impulse that pulls us through the adversity.
Remember the STORM you may find yourself in is the opportunity to increase your capacity and make yourself ready to go after or receive what you desire. The STORM helps us let go of what is getting in our way and keeping us from what we want.
