Raise your hand if you could use a little more certainty when it comes to growing your business, managing your career, nurturing your relationships, effectively managing your finances, or even improving your health.
Certainty is a primary need all of us have. There are many things we have absolute certainty around and perhaps even take for granted. We have certainty around the effects of gravity. We may not be able to explain how it works, but we are aware of how it affects us. Due to our certainty of the effects, we don’t worry about flying off the face of the earth into the abyss. We effectively deal with it and stay away from cliffs and the roof tops of tall buildings.
Notice in your life where you have certainty and where you may desire more. The quality of our life is in direct proportion to our ability to handle uncertainty.
Through various life experiences we hopefully increase our levels of certainty that provide us the confidence to move forward and make more progress. We even develop a capacity to realize we can handle certain set backs that perhaps use to throw us into overwhelm.
The bottom line to feeling certain is really to know and TRUST that we can handle whatever may come about from a given situation or circumstance. Granted, it may be painful and even miserable if we lose money in the market, fail at a business, lose a job, or have a relationship end. And we can all get through the pain if we TRUST.
TRUST what? TRUST that people will do what they feel is in their best interest at the time. Unfortunately, their decision or behavior may not be in our best interest at the time. Ouch. However, we can handle it. TRUST that we can adapt and overcome just about any set back. Truth be told, it’s the setbacks that increase our capacity to experience more of what we want – certainty.
Here is a five step process to increase our feeling of certainty by building our TRUST:
T – Tap into your purpose or personal mission. If you have taken the time, done your work and have clarity around your mission in life good for you. If so, remember to tap into it as doing so will create a vacuum that pulls you through any uncertainty. If you have not done so, I highly suggest you carve time out to discover your strengths and how you profoundly affect others. There are plenty of resources to assist you with this on the internet. Or feel free to call our offices for a complimentary workbook on the subject.
R – Remember your past triumphs. Because we live in a “what have you done for me lately” culture, we can start to discount our accomplishments. However, the best way to get back on track with our full potential is to take inventory of our accomplishments and stations we have endured and overcome.
U – Unhook your holdbacks. It’s not who we think we are that holds us back. It’s who we think we are not. Remember they’re just thoughts. Our thoughts can drive our success or keep us stuck. Learn to manage and guide your thoughts to affect what you want.
S – Step up into your full potential. There is never a shortage of resources only a shortage of resourcefulness. If you knew you could not fail what would you do. You could not have that thought if you did not also have the capacity to make it so. It may take some work. Be willing to do the work.
T – Take inspired action. Now that you have tapped into your mission, remembered your past triumphs, unhooked yourself from your holdbacks and stepped up and into your full potential, you should feel inspired. While you are feeling this inspiration take action toward what you want and keep going.
TRUST that you can keep yourself going by employing these five steps throughout your day and week. Make visiting these 5 steps a new habit and experience your capacity grow so you can accomplish more than you ever thought possible.
Make it up, make it fun, and get it done!
